Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the earth-land which the Lord thy God-Allah hath given thee.”
A Covenant is a solemn, binding agreement between two or more parties. The solemnity of this Covenant is evidenced by the fact that it is “the Covenant of the Great God Allah” as opposed to the covenant of man. In other words, this Covenant did not originate with mankind; it originated with Allah and was sent down to mankind as a mandate and divine instruction to be followed.
For millennia this divine Covenant was honored among our people in both Africa and Asia. It found expression in many of our cultural practices of pouring some kind of beverage into a bowl or onto the ground as a symbolic gesture to commemorate and honor the memory of past ancestors.
Honoring our father and mother, both past and present, was so highly esteemed and universally regarded by our people that foreigners, in observation of our cultural practice, mistakenly labeled it “ancestor worship”.
When our great ancestor, Moses, led the Israelites out of bondage to freedom, he gave them a divine code of law that had been observed among our people for thousands of years, but had been lost to the Israelites due to their 400 years of enslavement.
Among these laws issued by Moses were those which are traditionally called the “Ten Commandments”, one of which says: “Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the earth which the Lord thy God hath given thee” (See Holy Bible, Exodus 20:12.). This is the first commandment which came with a promise. The promise given in exchange for following the command. This is what makes it a covenant! But are we following the command? Well, that can be determined by whether we are receiving the promise?
April 8th 2020, was the first night of Passover in the Israelite tradition. It begins with the Seder feast, which is centered around retelling of the story of the Israelite peoples’ exodus from Egypt after 400 years of slavery. That began their forty year wandering in the desert, prior to settlement in the Land of Canaan. Their liberation was precipitated by ten plagues unleashed against the Egyptians. Interestingly enough, the final plague brought the death of the first born son to all households (Egyptian and Israelite) by a sudden swift illness for those families that didn’t stay indoors and mark their doorpost with lamb’s blood as a sign for death to “passover” that marked house. Something to think about.
Slavery in America began in 1619. The year 2019 marked the 400th year of slavery and oppression for the so-called African American here in Egypt. Is it coincidence that exactly 400 years out from slavery we find ourselves in the COVID-19 pandemic – and the vast majority of COVID related deaths are men? There are no coincidences – Law governs all events.
So the real question is, are we in line to receive the promise by honoring our father and mothers? Do we even know what that means?…
Prophet Noble Drew Ali’s “Koran Questionnaire for Moorish children” explains the significance of honoring our mother and fathers in simple terms:
41 . What is the Everlasting Gospel? It is a Saving Power that comes from ALLAH through our ancient Father, by His Prophet.
42. What is the Covenant of the Great GOD-ALLAH? Honor thy Father and thy Mother, that thy days may be long upon the Earthland which the Lord thy GOD ALLAH hath given thee:
It is truly prophetic that just before our 400 years of enslavement was up, Prophet Noble Drew Ali would reintroduce this ancient Covenant among us. After all, that’s what prophets do. They save us from the wrath of Allah by reminding us of the Saving Power that was given to our ancient Father, by Allah.
Therefore, we honor our ancient Father and Mother by adhering to the divine and national principles they were given directly from Allah himself, because it is the Saving Power.
MOORISH HOLY KORAN — CHAPTER XLVIII
THE END OF TIME AND THE FULFILLING OF THE PROPHESIES
6. We, as a clean and pure nation descended from the inhabitants of Africa, do not desire to amalgamate or marry into the families of the pale skin nations of Europe. Neither serve the gods of their religion, because our forefathers are the true and divine founders of the first religious creed, for the redemption and salvation of mankind on earth.
7. Therefore we are returning the Church and Christianity back to the European Nations, as it was prepared by their forefathers for their earthly salvation.
8. While we, the Moorish Americans are returning to Islam, which was founded by our forefathers for our earthly and divine salvation.
9. The covenant of the great God-Allah: “Honor they father and they mother that thy days may be longer upon the earth land, which the Lord thy God, Allah hath given thee!”
10. Come all ye Asiatics of America and hear the truth about your nationality and birthrights, because you are not negroes. Learn of your forefathers ancient and divine Creed. That you will learn to love instead of hate.
11. We are trying to uplift fallen humanity. Come and link yourselves with the families of nations. We honor all the true and divine prophets.
